my noise-rock debut. there were some other ones before this but i since decided to imitate stalin and toss them down the Memory Hole. that's probably for the best, cause you can see the roots of all my particular musical obsessions very very clearly here. it's completely drenched in reverb, there are a million individual interlocking / contrasting parts on every song, but there is a garage-rock roughness that gives it a distinct sort of untrained, stooges-like edge, probably springing from my definite inexperience. this is a concept album, the subject matter being "mother nature taking revenge on civilization;" thus the title and cover art. someone from high school told me my lyrics were "always about chill things, because you're kind of a chill person," and being fourteen years old i took this as a challenge. influences: blank banshee, joy division, animal collective, the doors, arctic monkeys' album AM. there's also a lot of world music in there, and "lacuna raccoon" was just a straightforward attempt at trap (albeit a failure.)
