on this album i was working with a similarly limited palette as the previous album (guitar, bass, casio keyboard, knick-knacks,) but with two years of added musical maturity and also having listened to and gotten really into steely dan. the resulting album scales down to allow itself to be complex and harmonically intricate. if THE WOLVES was a store-brand ginger ale, THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME was an ice cold pina colada, and I'M JUST A PERSON a cherry coke, this album is an iced coffee. with way too much caramel, because i still have a sugar addiction. influences: steely dan, new order, weezer, cap'n jazz, oliver tree, the cure, casiotone for the painfully alone, ajj.
